We are actively seeking a suitable person who has experience in horticulture/stone fruit farming to fill this position.

Job Description:

• Ensure that crop treatments are carried out as per established procedures and operators are trained to discharge their respective duties
• Liaise with Agronomist / Agricultural Technician / Farm Operation Manager regarding crop treatments
• Liaise with maintenance division regarding maintenance of plant and equipment
• Ensure all methods of crop treatments are done as per standard procedures. Pre-plant, fertiliser application, broadcasting of fertilizer and boom spraying of chemicals
• Ensure the weather conditions are suitable to perform the required task to achieve the best efficacy
• Liaise with Agronomist regarding scheduling of all crop water requirements
• Monitor operations in garden growing to ensure work quality
• Manage stock of fertilisers and chemicals.

Skills / Experience Required:

• An agricultural / horticultural background with proven skills and knowledge
• Having substantial experience and a fundamental understanding of farm operations
• Excellent communication skills
• Computer literate
• Multiple language skills preferable

Seasonal workers for 2022/2023

PETER WHITE ORCHARD is located in Woorinen North, Victoria, and grows stone fruit such as Nectarines, Peaches and Plums. Currently, we are looking for seasonal workers to join our busy picking team. The picking season starts from November to March (starting and finishing days vary year to year). New pickers are trained at our orchard.
Requirements:
– Able to carry picking bags that can weigh up to 10 kilograms.
– Use step ladders.
– Resilience to handle warm temperatures.
– Pick correct colour and size of fruit specifications set by farm managers.
– Be able to work as part of a team.
Occupational Health and Safety
Before starting work, the workers are given information about work safety procedures. Detailed information on how to use proper PE such as sun protection, gloves, broad brimmed hats, long sleeved shirts and sun cream is given. The information about climbing ladders safely and tractor safety is also provided. As a part of this process, workers must advise management of any pre-existing injuries.
